'I have been a keen photographer for as long as I can remember - I’m now 43 and only in the last 3-4 years have I been working as a professional. Most of my work is architectural or commercial, which is complimentary to my original profession as an Interior Architect, however I am now embarking on a long term documentary project to explore the town of Port Talbot and its steelworks, looking at the interconnected nature of the town, the works, other businesses and social activities in one of the last true industrial towns in Britain. As documentary photography is a genre I am not experienced in, I decided to do some practice at a local station where an independent trader runs a Coffee Trike. She has built up a loyal following and I wanted to show this novel venture in the context of a small, local railway station. Whilst there, I discovered an upholsterer in the old station buildings, and also photographed that business.’
